The Fosters (and why you should totally watch it)

Do you
know how you sometimes read/watch something and you can't believe why it isn't
mandatory for the whole world to read/watch it? That's what I thought when I watched
The Fosters. In just three days this show has become one of my favorite ones
(coming head to head with Revenge, and you know how much I love
Revenge). Here's my top reasons why (*there might be some spoilers
ahead*).
It
features different lifestyles. There's a biracial lesbian couple raising one
biological son, two Latino kids that they adopted when they were 5, and two
kids they take in as foster kids later in life, one of which is gay. There's
also a transgender character (played by an actual transgender male, which
doesn't happen very often - and Tom Phelan is amazing).
It's one
of the first TV shows that features a boy coming out at a young age. The Jonnor relationship is just adorable and I can't wait to see where they take it in season 3.
It's
realistic. The
marriage between Stef and Lena isn't romanticized, they're not always happy or getting along, but they make up after every fight and they know how to stick together. There's also the important topics that actually happen and matter - rape, gender identity, sexual orientation and of course regular high school problems.
The actors
are AMAZING. Maia
Mitchell is one of my favorite actresses and she's great either in a comedy or
a drama. Every single character in the show has layers and the actors know how
to show them.
Season 3 is now airing! Which means that if you watch it now, you won't have to wait for the new season.
It really is amazing. Have you watched it before? ☺
