Subtitled "(RELATIVELY) NEW TV SHOWS YOU SHOULD WATCH IF YOU HAVE THE SAME INTERESTS AS ME".

2016 was a wonderful year for finding out about amazing TV shows. As you probably know, I am obsessed with all types of TV series, mostly sitcoms, and I can never resist adding another one to my to-watch list. Here are the ones I started watching in 2016 and was most impressed by.

1. Broad City
I don't know how I haven't started watching this before?! It's a wonderful 20-minute sitcom about two badass 20-something Jewish girls, it positively handles topics such as bodily functions (periods, pooping, farting, stuff like that), and it is very female-empowering. It currently has three 10-episode seasons, season 4 will premiere in August and it is already renewed for season 5. And Amy Poehler is an executive producer!

2. Please Like Me
This 20-minute comedy drama comes from Australian comedian Josh Thomas and it tackles some actual events from his life, including his mother's mental health problems. It currently has 4 seasons and there are no plans for the future yet. (20/3/2017 EDIT: It was cancelled, but it has a pretty satisfying ending.)

3. Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Rachel Bloom is just an amazing human being altogether. She is the creator of this 40-minute musical comedy, she's the star and she writes the music for it. The show's female-empowering with showing realistically flawed women. They also address mental health issues, abortion, and one of the recurring characters realizes he's bisexual (and acknowledges it with a catchy song).

4. Superstore
I hope this show will run for a long time because it's a workplace sitcom that is a bit similar to The Office (which is one of my top 10 TV shows). It's about a bunch of people and their relationships in a Cloud 9 department store where they all work together. Season 1 has 11 episodes, there's an Olimpic special and season 2 is currently airing.

5. Master of None
Aziz Ansari's comedy drama is about all kinds of life's problems and it deals with one at a time in each episode. Season 1 has 10 episodes and season 2 will be airing sometime this year.

6. Chewing Gum
I didn't love this one as much as the others, but it is still a fun watch. It's a British sitcom about a religious girl that doesn't want to become like her uptight sister and decides to spice up her life. The show currently has 6 episodes and season 2 will be premiering January 12th.

I hope you'll give these shows a chance (I have no one to fangirl with over Broad City and Please Like Me). There are of course so many older binge-worthy series that are amazing (The Office, Parks&Rec, The Mindy Project), but that's a story for another time.
